PYRAMIDS “WVNDRKMMER” 5XCASSETTE BOX: Recently Surfaced Copies, Few Remain

In 2010, Small Doses released a 5xcassette box containing over six hours of music. It was an experiment: have a huge list of artists interpret the same files that made up an unreleased Pyramids track. Artists that stepped up to the challenge include Burial Hex, This Will Destroy You, Across Tundras, Amber Asylum, Mamiffer, Windy And Carl, Bass Communion (Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree), and a TON more. 300 copies were made. Most of them are long gone. A small portion, however, has resurfaced and won’t be around forever. http://www.small-doses.com/pyramids.htm That is the link for more info.

NOISECREEP: R. LOREN, FIVE ALBUMS THAT CHANGED MY LIFE

Noisecreep asked for a brief overview of five albums that changed my life. Rather than pretend I came out the womb listening to minimalist composers and obscure black metal like many of my fellow thirty-somethings, I decided to give an accurate account of the various stages of my life.

ALLMUSIC: “ATWAK IS THE FIRST GREAT EXPERIMENTAL ALBUM OF 2012”

ALLMUSIC.COM DECLARES PYRAMIDS/HORSEBACK “A THRONE WITHOUT A KING” THE “FIRST GREAT EXPERIMENTAL ALBUM OF 2012”. SO VERY HONORED.

PITCHFORK REVIEWS “A THRONE WITHOUT A KING”

The mighty Pitchfork reviews the new PYRAMIDS/HORSEBACK “A THRONE WITHOUT A KING” release. The review is a series of amazing one-liners, beginning with the first sentence: “If you thought Pyramids’ rapid-fire style-hopping, from trad doom metal crunch to post-rock’s technical ecstasy, was exhausting on their 2008 debut album, then prepare yourself for an almost hour-long collage that makes their old stuff seem downright uniform.”

PYRAMIDS / HORSEBACK: THRONE WITHOUT A KING

LP / CD / CASSETTE AVAILABLE. HAPPY HUNTING.

SOME WORDS FROM THE PRESS:

“Truly a seminal work … Pyramids/Horseback’s creation is a near seem-less bonding of crackling, dystopian drone, and the reverb filled, melting-ice yawn of shoegaze.” (9/10) - Foxy Digitalis

“Both artists operate on a completely different level than their peers and are unique and exciting forces in the music world, and this collaboration is as golden as the album art.” - CVLT Nation

“The epic marriage between two of the world’s finest experimental entities … Neither Pyramids nor Horseback can disappoint.” - The Inarguable

A Throne Without A King is a magnificent record. Not something for the squeamish, not something for the easily amused, but something for those who want to peer into the abyss and have a soundtrack to it.” - Crave Online

“A further abstraction of the more “out there” jazz, along the lines of Albert Ayler and Ornette Coleman (circa Free Jazz), but without any traditional instrumentation.” - Brainwashed
